mahewa works on and through research-led artistic projects and creation-based social and cultural sciences projects.
It works with affordable, zero-, and low-budget, integrating ethnographic, experimental, and artistic techniques.
Supports and acts, develops and edits in both directions:
to researchers who want to involve creative practice as layouts for their projects, to artists who want to base their investigations on research-based methodologies, to creators who want to work interdisciplinary and experimentally.
It creates itinerant Labs that accompany projects through their phases, combining emic knowledge and habitus with territorial and global practices.
One of mahewa’s goals is reachability, accessibility, and sharing information, mixing creativity, experimental tools, and methodologies that allow for pushing back against censorship and structural limitations or the status quo. It is based on a responsible, empathetic approach, with sharp denunciation and critical thinking. Its public is both local and global.
It also offers support for an ad hoc independent art-research residency-retreats program, nomadic in its location.
mahewa provides tools to mix art and ethnographic practices with different experimental layouts to reach different audiences and social groups.
